IDRaman Mini selected as a finalist for the Prism Awards for Photonics Innovation 2014

IDRaman mini has been selected as a finalist for the Prism Awards for Photonics Innovation. The Prism Awards for Photonics Innovation is a leading international competition that honors the best new photonic products on the market. Over the years, the Prism Awards has received applications from more than 35 countries across the globe. Applications are judged by a panel of leading industry experts, venture capitalists, luminaries and visionaries.

The IDRaman mini is a finalist in the Defense and Security category of the contest. This nomination follows industry recognition earlier in the year when the IDRaman mini claimed the Annual Readers’ Choice Award from Laboratory Equipment magazine.

The development of handheld and portable Raman systems has brought a once relatively unknown analytical technique into the mainstream. Once used primarily as a research tool, Raman spectroscopy is now a routine analytical technique used for applications as diverse as QA/QC and threat detection. Weighing just a little over 330 grams (11 oz.) and measuring 9.1 x 7.1 x 3.8 cm (3.6” x 2.8” x 1.5”) the IDRaman mini fits in the palm of your hand and measures both powdered samples and vial samples. Made from solid aluminum, the IDRaman mini is rugged and designed for long-lifetime operation.

Running for over 11 hours on two (2) AA batteries, the IDRaman mini offers flexibility in the field or during long manufacturing shifts where recharging batteries is impossible. A bright and easy-to-navigate interface is driven by a 7.1 cm (2.8”) resistive touch screen that can be operated while the user is clad in the highest level of bulky personal protection equipment (PPE).
