Andover, MA – June 24, 2019 – MKS Instruments, Inc. (NASDAQ: MKSI) introduces its Spectra-Physics® IceFyre® 355-50, a high power, industrial UV picosecond hybrid fiber laser with industry-leading performance and versatility and low cost-of-ownership. Delivering >50 W UV power, ultrashort pulses, and highest power at repetition rates up to 10 MHz, the laser is ideal for high throughput, high quality micromachining in 24/7 production lines. With programmable burst mode, advanced triggering, and widely adjustable repetition rates, IceFyre 355-50 offers unprecedented versatility for process optimization and adaptability to new materials and requirements. The new laser enables cold micromachining in high volume manufacturing of 5G electronics components and flexible printed circuits, OLED and flexible displays, solar photovoltaic cells, and many other materials and devices.
“IceFyre 355-50 sets the new standard for high power UV picosecond industrial lasers,” said Dave Allen, senior vice president and general manager for Spectra-Physics lasers. “With its exceptional performance, unparalleled versatility, and low cost-of-ownership, the new laser is an enabler for high volume precision micromachining in some of today’s hottest applications in consumer electronics, clean energy and industrial manufacturing.”
As an important addition to the successful family of IceFyre
picosecond lasers, IceFyre 355-50 delivers >50 W UV average power and
10 ps pulse widths with adjustable repetition rates from single shot up
to 10 MHz. Featuring pulse-on-demand (POD) and position synchronized
output (PSO) triggering, the industry’s lowest timing jitter, and
built-in dynamic power adjustment, the new laser delivers precise
control for high speed processes. IceFyre 355-50’s TimeShift™ ps
programmable pulse capability results in flexible burst mode operation
with adjustable burst shape, pulse separation and number of pulses in a
burst, all with high UV power available.
Building on MKS’ deep
experience and technology, the Spectra-Physics IceFyre 355-50 leverages
an efficient patent-pending design to yield high performance, high
reliability and low cost-of-ownership. Fully automated and computer
controlled, the laser exhibits exceptional stability in power and beam
pointing to ensure high reproducibility and precision for demanding
applications.
