Optical Tables are used in optics experiments and systems when the alignment of optical components and vibration isolation need to be maintained to fractions of a wavelength. Typically, an optical table will have a large mass that is floated pneumatically to isolate itself from external vibrations. Standard Newport optical tables are constructed with Stainless Steel top and bottom sheets separated by a honeycomb structure. The top sheet includes a precision grid of threaded holes for mounting and aligning optical components. Our advanced SmartTable design uses active damping technology to reduce vibrations from the surface of the optical table for a dramatically quieter surface.
Newport offers a broad range of broadband, tune damped and actively damped optical tables and support systems to fit any performance, budget and delivery need.
